β¨ Cities that Work for Women and Girls
As Ukraine rebuilds, its cities face both a challenge and an opportunity: to create urban spaces that are inclusive, resilient, and truly serve everyone. Women and girls - often disproportionately impacted by the conflict - face unique risks and barriers, including displacement, caregiving burdens, and limited access to infrastructure, safety, and services.
Placing women and girls at the heart of recovery strategies is key to building stronger, fairer cities. Gender-transformative urban planning and development can offer practical solutions for creating safer streets, accessible transport, inclusive housing, and public spaces where everyone can thrive.
This webinar will share international good practices and local experiences, including:
π Opening remarks from UNECE and the Chair of UNECE Forum of Mayors
ποΈ Insights from UN-Habitat, UN Women and Cities Alliance on methodologies for gender-transformative development
π A spotlight on UmeΓ₯, Sweden and how the city became a global leader in gender-transformative urban development
π€ A panel with Ukrainian urban planners, government officials, and civil society, exploring opportunities to make cities more inclusive, safe, and empowering for women and girls
Join us to discover practical tools, strategies, and collaborative approaches for rebuilding Ukrainian cities that leave no one behind.
