Thematic workshop on urban transport with the focus on electric urban transport
The workshop was held in-person with possible online participation.
The workshop was co-organized by the Sustainable Transport Division, the Sustainable Energy Division and the Housing and Land Management Unit of the Forests, Land and Housing Division. The workshop provided further inputs to document ECE/TRANS/WP.5/2022/2 entitled “Taking stock of new trends towards electric vehicle charging infrastructure”.
The workshop provided a platform for participants to:
Exchange views on trends, opportunities, and challenges in the field of electrification of road vehicles at urban, suburban, and regional levels.
Discuss the policy and infrastructure needs that these developments create for transport, energy, and spatial planning, including in an urban environment.
Propose ideas and identify next steps for needed action in this field.

First informal meeting with Mykolaiv city government
The first informal meeting with the city government took place in order for all stakeholders to get to know each other and to start the preparations of the city’s Masterplan. The city government was represented by the mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, the vice mayor Vitaly Lukov and the chairman of the city council Dmytro Falko.

First Local Architects Meeting in Kharkiv
The group of local architects in Kharkiv joined the discussions led by the Norman Foster Foundation and the City Government of Kharkiv. Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov spoke of his vision to transform the city to become a great European city, well developed economically and with its distinct architecture highlighting the city’s history and cultural heritage. Architect Norman Foster underlined that “history, culture, celebrating the past, is all hugely important when planning neighbourhoods and rebuilding a city.”

Second UN4Kharkiv Task Force Meeting
The meeting was organized by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in cooperation with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and City Government of Kharkiv. Building on longstanding cooperation, the Ministry requested UNECE to support ongoing reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. In response, UNECE established the UN4Kharkiv Task Force comprising different UN agencies working together to support efforts of the government in developing innovative approaches to rebuilding cities in Ukraine.
