URBAN7 INTERNATIONAL MAYORS SUMMIT

The 2026 Urban7 (U7) Mayors’ Summit takes place from 2-4 June 2026 in Nancy, France, ahead of the G7 Leaders’ Summit, representing a medium between local and national governments. Bringing together representatives from the G7 countries — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States — the initiative provides local actors with an opportunity to position themselves in international political processes.

As U7 has been formally recognized as an official G7 Engagement Group, cities and regions are now institutionalized within the G7 process. Therefore, this edition marks a major milestone, bringing together mayors, local and regional leaders, national associations, and international partners to collaboratively develop a U7 Mayors’ Declaration. This document reflects shared priorities among G7 cities and beyond and puts forward concrete policy recommendations to inform G7 Leaders’ discussions.

Specifically, the Summit addresses topics including ecological transition and climate action, social cohesion, and democratic governance, and explores how cities and regions can strengthen territorial resilience and play a more structured role in global governance processes.
